The Jenny Lozano Story

“Con todo, menos con miedo.”

Driven by grit, perseverance, and unconditional support, a border town boxer goes where no other Laredo athlete has gone before – representing the country at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

JENNY, LA TRAVIESA, LOZANO

Born and raised on the Southside of Laredo, TX, Jennifer “La Traviesa” Lozano has dreamt of Olympic glory since she was 9. After a series of personal hardships, including death, loss, and doubt, she achieves what was once deemed impossible for young girls in her neighborhood. She qualifies to represent Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The film is a love letter to Laredo, a community marked by historical and cultural turmoil between two nations, where locals have learned to be both identities at once – not pick between either.

“I’m making the impossible possible for every kid in my city.”

Jenny Lozano

IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO MAKE A CHAMPION.

TRAVIESA is not only a chronicle of Jennifer’s journey, but an in-depth look into the community that nurtured her into the fighter she is today.

With exclusive access into her coaching community, her teammates, and her life in Laredo, our film aims to paint a nuanced portrait of border life beyond the stereotypes, and show that border communities are filled with champions, fighters, and people committed to a new horizon of possibilities of athletes in this politicized region.
